This algorithm/program/ initial condition/law of Nature appeared intentionally and unintentionally in early NASA!

There were famously 7 Mercury Astronauts, but only 6 flew - Deke Slayton was grounded due to heart fibrillation. Only 6 of the 7 Mercury Astronauts survived through Apollo - Gus Grissom died in the fire of Apollo 1. Out of the Mercury 7 Astronauts, 4 weren't Air Force/4 weren't Navy/4 weren't Freemasons (Glenn became one after his flight). 4 of the Mercury 7 Astronauts launched from LC-14. The 'Next Nine' Astronaut Group included 7 military pilots and 4 were AF. Astronaut Group 3 - The 'Fourteen' - included 7 AF and 4 Navy. Gemini 4 launched at 7 am, but wasn't able to rendezvous - nor was Gemini 5. The Agena that was launched to hook up with Gemini 6 blew up! So, although unplanned, Gemini 6a rendezvoused with Gemini 7 for the first time and involved 4 astronauts.

Apollo 4 was the first flight of the Saturn V. Apollo 6 was the last uncrewed Apollo test mission and Apollo 7 the first crewed. 4 missions later, Apollo 11 landed on the Moon at 4:17:40 EDT. The ill-fated Apollo 13 was the 7th manned Apollo mission and the 6th to use the Saturn V. There were 7 planned Apollo missions to land on the Moon - only 6 did. Out of the 7 Lunar Modules (LEM) set to land on the Moon, the first 4 were not Extended Lunar Modules (ELM)/J-Class Missions.
